Grand Premier Pontaby Ferragosto (Gus)
What a fantastic day for Gus! He won his first ever Imperial Grand Premier Certificate on his very first try. He also won the PC but lost out on 'Best of Breed Usual Abyssinian Neuter' to the gorgeous IGrPr Abyglen Aisling'.

Champion Pontaby Campanula (Cami)
It was nice to see the blue baby again and thanks to her new owner Lona for bringing both Cami and Gus such a long way to come to the show (They have recently moved to Caithness!). This was Cami's very first outing on the show scene as a neuter and she didn't disappoint. She gained her first Premier Certificate and 'Best of Breed Blue Abyssinian Neuter', plus she was placed in 3 out of 4 of her side classes.

Also attending the show was Gus's brother Sleepy, (Pontaby Sognatore) but he really wasn't in the mood to talk to the judges on the day. It was lovely to see him and his owner Carin though, she brought us some delicious cakes again which went down very well.

It was quite odd not actually exhibiting any cats of our own at the show but we 'adopted' Elisabeth's stunning Russian Blue kittens for the day. They all did VERY well at their first show, well done Xander, Xarek and Xariabella.

Gus the big showoff!!

Grand Champion Pontaby Fragola (Berry)
It's always a great day out to attend a breed show, but even better when you have a winning cat! After her 'near-miss' at Preston, Berry managed win her first Imperial in Rugby. She was her usual star self on show day and very much enjoyed staying over with us in the hotel on Saturday night. Waking up at 4am with a purring, treading Aby on your chest is always fun!

There were also some oter great results on the day, not least One Shot's son Simon 'IGrPr Glendavan Azamour', winning his fifth Imperial and title and then going on to win 'Best in Show Neuter'. One Shot's daughter Red 'GrPr Rintinaby Red Herring' also won an Imperial (her third) so there was much celebrating in the 'Scottish section' all round.

There were a good number of Abys entered on the day, and a good variety of colours too. Anyone interested in seeing more results from the ACA can view them on the Russian and Abyssinian cat club's show section (follow the link):

Grand Champion Pontaby Fragola (Berry)
I was a bit nervous on the morning of Berry's very first 'Imperial attempt' but she did me proud. She didn't actually win the Imperial Certificate because she was up against the beautiful 'GrCh Thamos Mocha' who is the mother of our blue girl Tabby. I was however delighted to get the reserve grand and to make me feel even better Berry also won her Open class, taking Challenge Certificate and 'Best of breed Sorrel Abyssinian Adult'. She did well in the side classes too, winning 1st place out of seven cats
and got two seconds in the others. She behaved beautifully as per usual and enjoyed her day.

All in all Berry had a VERY good day, but it paled in comparison to her fellow Scottish Aby. Aisling, who is our blue girl Nyla's sister, had the most amazing red card day. The main goal on the day was to get her 5th Imperial certificate, which she did beautifully, but also won the Grand class and 'Best of breed Usual Abyssinian Neuter'. She then went on to win ALL of her side classes too!! Aisling's new title also means she is the VERY first Scottish bred Abyssinian to become an 'Imperial Grand'. Many, many congratulations to the newest Imperial titled Aby 'Imperial Grand Premier Abyglen Aisling', her delighted owner Heather and also to her breeder Dorothy.

Champion Pontaby Fragola (Berry)
A third and final Grand for my gorgeous sorrel girl, she behaved like a true star all day as usual and also won 'Best of Breed Sorrel Abyssinian Adult', one1st and two 2nds in her side classes. Berry has gained her three qualifying GCCs in three consecutive shows, many thanks to her judges:

Mrs M. Kidd, Mrs J. Green and Mrs S. Bullock.

Abychat Pinballwizard (Izzy)
I was a little apprehensive about Izzy's chances on show day because it was the first time he had been to a show for about 4 years. He was actually very calm and friendly in the morning but seemed a bit tense when we returned after the break. I was told later by the judge that he had got a bit of a fright when he heard a nearby cat upset while she was judging him and she thought it best to leave him alone after that. But not before awarding him his Challenge Certificate and 'Best of Breed Fawn Abyssinian Adult', so it was 'well done big boy'!

Pontaby Isabella (Arwen)
Making her debut at the show was Berry's daughter Arwen (named for her late Grandmother). She was obviously determined to follow in her mother's pawsteps and won her Open class and 'Best of Breed Sorrel Abyssinian Kitten', as well as two more prizes in her side classes.

Pontaby Maniago (Rowan)
Also on his debut was Arwen's 'little brother' Rowan who was anything but 'little' at 7 months old. He was beaten in his Open class by a lovely usual kitten, but managed to pick up a 2nd prize in one of his side classes. My guess is that he wanted to let his sister have all the glory this time, but he enjoyed his day nevertheless.

Gr Ch Berry!
