West of Scotland Cat Club

Champion Annera Daydream (Arwen) Pontaby Pasticcio (Jasper) I was delighted with Jasper when I saw him on the morning of the show, he had grown up so much and is now a very handsome boy indeed. He outperformed all of my expectations throughout the day and gained not only his third and qualifying Premier Certificate but also the Best of breed and 1st's in ALL of his side classes. What a star. Jasper has become our third ever titled cat and the first sorrel 'Pontaby' to gain any title. He also gained all of his Premier cards in three consecutive shows, well done boy!! Premier Pontaby Ferragosto (Gus) Gus also did very well, and gained yet another Premier Certificate and Best of Breed. He did well in his side classes and was only beaten in one by his pal Jasper. Obviously as the breeders of both cats, we couldn't be happier. Gus did his usual showing off all day and captured the hearts of a few passers by. Pontaby Campanula (Cami) Cami attended her first Adult show and did really well, gaining her 1st ever Challenge Certificate and 'Best of Breed Blue Abyssinian adult'. She was her usual friendly self at the show and sat posing at the front of the pen for most of the day. Pontaby Cannavaro (Indianna) What can I say about Indi, she could well be another star in the making. At her very first show aged just over 4 months she won her Open class as well as the Best of Breed. Two more firsts in her side classes and second in a HUGE class of 10 kittens. She was nominated and then went on to win 'Best of Variety Foreign Kitten'. Such an achievement for one so young. Her owners Leanne and Ross (also attending their very first show) were delighted. Pontaby Nesta (Lily) Also making her show debut was Lily, a beautiful choccy point Siamese. She did well too, gaining her first prize and Best of Breed. She also got a second and a third in her side classes. I hope we will be seeing her out again along with her 'sister' Indy soon. Well done to Leanne and Ross for presenting these two lovely girls so well.

Supreme Cat Show

Pontaby Ferragosto (Gus) Grand Champion One Shot from A'far (One Shot) Unfortunately this year was not One Shot's at the Supreme, he had some very good competition in two stunning usual boys and only managed 3rd place in the UK Grand class. He behaved beautifully in the show ring (no surprise there then!) and did me proud by showing off in his 'batchelor pad' pen all day, gaining a few more subscriptions to his fan club in the process. I also need to congratulate One Shot's beautiful daughter Red, (Premier Rintinaby Red Herring), owned by Christine Leith who won her second Grand Premier Certificate on the day, just one more to go!!

Pontaby Fragola (Berry) Pontaby Viviana (Viva) Another slightly disappointing day for our Viva, who didn't manage her CC but I got some good feeback from the judges. She behaved VERY well at her first show in 10 months and was happy to talk to everyone who passed so I'm not giving up on her yet.

40th RUBY ANNIVERSARY SHOW

Pontaby Fragola (Berry) Pontaby Ferragosto (Gus) My superstar Gus has finally broken his winning streak. Maybe he wanted to let his sister Berry take the limelight this time. He was beaten in the Open class by a lovely usual boy so we don't mind so much, there's always a next time. He did manage to get placings in all of his side classes though, beating some very nice cats.

Grand Champion One Shot from A'far (One Shot) Another good day for Mr Shot. He got the reserve Grand Certificate in a really competitive class with three super cats, loosing gracefully to a beautiful Cornish boy. He gained another Challenge Certificate and 'Best of Breed Sorrel Abyssinian Adult' plus a further two prizes in his side classes. BIG congratulations to One Shot's two kittens 'Glendavan Azamour' (Simon) and 'Rintinaby Red Herring' (Red) who both won their final Premier Certificate's and the title of 'Premier' at the show!! Pontaby Testarossa (Rosa) Unfortunately little Rosa didn't have a very good day this time, she was quite grumpy in her pen and out of it. The results confirm that it is probably about time for her to have some kittens, so she will be taking a break from the shows for a while. One Shot could soon be a GRANDad as well as a Grand Champion!!!

Champion One Shot from A'far (One Shot) Champion Abychat Honeycomb (Honey) Again Honey failed to get anything in her Grand class, but it has really only confirmed to me that she is now needing to have another litter of kittens so it's not too bad. She still won her Open class, gaining another Challenge Certificate and 'Best of Breed Fawn Abyssinian Adult'. I'll probably wait and try her again for Grand next year once she has had some more babies.

Champion Abychat Honeycomb (Honey) Abyglen Anyla (Nyla) Nyla did well at the show and gained her second Challenge Certificate as well as 'Best of Breed Blue Abyssinian Adult'. I had taken the judges advice from the last two shows and made a point of 'fattening her up' a bit and it seems to have done the trick, she also gained two third prizes in her side classes. Pontaby Testarossa (Rosa) Rosa did great, she won her second Challenge Certificate and 'Best of Breed Sorrel Abyssinian Adult'. She also gained two further first prizes in her side classes. I didn't manage to get any photos of her at the show but it is becoming scary how much she looks like her Dad One Shot. Pontaby Pasticcio (Jasper) Jasper did it again and won his second Premier Certificate. He didn't get the Best of Breed this time but got another first in a side class. HUGE congratulations go to his big sister Abyglen Aisling who gained her final Grand Premier Certificate at the show. It was a long time coming, but very well deserved. Pontaby Ferragosto (Gus) The star boy just keeps on doing it. Gus gained his second Premier Certificate in a VERY competitive class of three lovely boys, beating his brother Sleepy in the process. He also got placings in four side classes, two firsts and two thirds. If he can keep going at this rate he will be made up to Premier in no time!! Fingers crossed! Pontaby Campanula (Cami) My little Cami did great again, this was her second show and she took it in her stride. She won her Open class and got 'Best of Breed Blue Abyssinian Kitten'. She also did well in her side classes, winning two first prizes and one third, she was awarded a 'Committee Special' rosette by the show manager Isobel Walker. Pontaby Sognatore (Sleepy) Sleepy did well for his second ever show, he was in the same Open class as Gus and although he only came third this time it was very close. He did quite well in his side classes, and he and his owner Carin had a great day out again. Many thanks to again Carin for the 'baking'.

Champion One Shot from A'far (One Shot)

Well, where do I begin. The boy did rather well at the breed show!! He was a complete star as per usual and obviously did his best to charm everyone in sight. He won his second Grand Challenge Certificate, plus another Challenge Certificate and 'Best of Breed Sorrel Abyssinian Adult' and a further two 1st prizes in his side classes. The best of breed was well deserved because he was judged against 4 sorrel females to win it! As if all these prizes weren't enough he decided to go one better and not only won 'Best in Show Adult' but 'Overall Best Exhibit in Show' too!! He is such a laidback boy and coped very well with all the attention (loved every second of it!) even when he was up at the front of the hall being judged for Best in Section.

He also won 3 trophies at the show: The Hiridge Cup - Best of Breed Sorrel Adult, The Saniger Trophy - Sorrel cat or kitten of Club Secretary's choice, and The Dr Sandra Fubisher Memorial Trophy - Best in Show Adult. I am still a bit shell shocked but VERY proud of my boy. Thank you very much to Val Kilby for awarding him with his second Grand, and to Shirley Bullock for choosing him for Best in Show. One Shot also thanks all of his adoring fans, old and new, for their support.

Champion Abychat Honeycomb (Honey) I felt a wee bit sorry on show day for Honey, because One Shot did really well and got the lion's share of the attention, but she was also a bit of a superstar. She gained her first ever Grand Challenge Certificate, and it was very well deserved because she was in a big class of 5 top quality girls! She gained another Challenge Certificate and 'Best of Breed Fawn Abyssinian Adult'. She also won the 'Abychat Solomon Trophy' for best fawn adult.

Champion One Shot from A'far (One Shot) What an absolute star!!! One Shot did me proud by gaining his first ever Grand Challenge Certificate, and a big thank you to George Godfrey for awarding him. One Shot also won another Challenge Certificate and 'Best of Breed Sorrel Abyssinian Adult' and was also placed first in a large side class of 8 cats! Pontaby Testarossa (Rosa) Rosa did really well, she won her first ever Challenge Certificate but lost the Best of Breed to her Daddy One Shot. I'm sure she wont hold it against him, maybe he will let her win it next time!! She also did well to gain second place in big side class of 8! Abyglen Anyla (Nyla) Not the best day for our Nyla, she had her Challenge Certificate witheld this time, but I got some good feedback from her judges. I think she may just need a little more time to mature before she is ready to win another one.

Abyglen Anyla (Nyla) Pontaby Pasticcio (Jasper) Jasper did us all proud and gained his first Premier Certificate on his first attempt. He amused us all with his funny antics, not least the shredding of the card with his pen number on. Thankfully he left the silver Premier Certificate card well alone. Pontaby Campanula (Cami) Cami did really well at her first ever show. She was a little star and caught the attention of judges and public alike. She won first prize in her Open class and 'Best of Breed Blue Abyssinian Kitten', along with a further 1st and 3rd prize in her side classes. In addition to these prizes, she was also nominated for 'Best in Section Foreign', although the final prize went to a lovely Bengal in the end. Pontaby Ferragosto (Gus) Another great day for Gus, he is becoming a bit of a natural at this show game. This time he was competing against his litter brother Sleepy and according to the judge it was a very close call. As well as his first and 'Best of Breed Usual Abyssinian Kitten' he also did very well in his side classes, winning THREE first prizes and one second. His owner Lona also did well, she won a HUGE 'cat tree' in the Show raffle. Pontaby Sognatore (Sleepy) Sleepy made his show debut at Dundee and did really well. He was beaten in the open class by his brother Gus but it was a very close decision. Sleepy also managed to get placings in all of his side classes. His owner Carin also enjoyed her first show day and was very helpful to the show team on the day to keep herself busy. She also kept us other 'Aby folk' well fed with her homebaking, much appreciated!

Champion Abychat Honeycomb (Honey) Pontaby Ferragosto (Gus) Pontaby Testarossa (Rosa) Rosa did well again winning First and Best of Breed in the Open, plus two seconds in her side classes. It was great to see her out again, she looks so much like her daddy One Shot. As an added bonus on the day, Rosa caught the eye of the Club's President Margaret Bowes and was awarded with a 'Special' rosette. There were only 6 of these given out among over 200 cats so it's quite an honour!! Abyglen Anyla (Nyla) Nyla did well at her first ever show, she was very well behaved on the day and settled in well. She only managed second place in the Open Class this time but picked up two first in her side classes. She behaved very well and was happy to be handled by us and the judges on the day.
